Although mediation resolves most disputes, some mediations end in impasse.  Such disappointments can usually be avoided and positive resolutions achieved when advocates are armed with knowledge of common mediation pitfalls and develop negotiation skills that can enhance mediation outcomes.  This course educated as to appropriate preparation, smart brief-craft and thoughtful strategies during the mediation session – focused on the purpose, logistics and goals for the session – to reduce the potential for failure and maximize results.  DANY thanks NAM for having supported this event.

The following event has been postponed:
Fifth Annual Yankees Game and CLE

Before onset of the COVID-19 crisis, DANY had arranged for its Fifth Annual Yankees Game and CLE based on major league baseball scheduled at the time, i.e. Yankees v. Angels on July 22, 2020 (evening).  For future reference, below are details about what was to take place.  Hopefully this event can be offered again in 2021.

5:15 p.m.  -  One hour CLE  --  Supreme Court, Bronx County  (Topic TBA)

7:05 p.m.  -  LA Angels v. NY Yankees  -  Seats in section 214B, rows 12-19

Details:  Tentative pricing of $80 per person for members of DANY and participating bar associations, and $95 per person for non-members.  Attorneys may buy extra tickets at a reduced price to share with clients, family and friends who are not attending the CLE.  Food and beverage will be provided at the conclusion of the CLE.  These seats in Section 214B will provide a view even better than what is shown in the photo below!  As always, DANY thanks its members and sponsors for their support.  Please save the date, and look again here for a registration link in the future.



Publication Opportunity:  Premises Liability Journal

Authors, you are encouraged to submit articles for proposed publication in a journal dedicated to premises liability litigation.  For a list of suggested topics, or to discuss a topic of interest to you, please contact Brad Corsair at Bradley.Corsair@aig.com.  This premises liability publication will include more than twenty articles and will distribute in two phases.  Phase one will be published in October 2020.  Articles may still be submitted for phase two.  Here is a link for a page on this website which provides access to nearly thirty years' worth of DANY's "Defendant" journal  -  thank you for your efforts!

DANY Law Student Scholarship Opportunity

2019 Past Presidents' Dinner  -  November 20, 2019

DANY was pleased to provide this long-standing event at the elegant Down Town Association at 60 Pine Street in lower Manhattan (https://www.thedta.com/).  This event honored DANY's Past Presidents for their fine leadership and contributions.  There was an installation of the current DANY President, James P. O'Connor, and certain other Officers and Directors.  This occasion began with a one hour CLE course at 5:30 p.m., titled 2019 Essential CPLR Updates, presented by David Paul Horowitz, Esq. of McNamara & Horowitz, as illustrated below.  That was followed by a cocktail hour with Tuscan antipasto station at 6:30 p.m., and a banquet dinner at 7:30 p.m.  More photos to come, and thanks for having participated!  Link for the CLE materials:
